What is Avance Mexico?
Avance Mexico was the first program under Avance International, a dynamic missions immersion program. Avance Mexico began in 1968 with a vision to accompany college-age young adults in considering God’s call upon their lives, while at the same time working alongside the Mexican church as it seeks to share the love of Christ.
The Legacy of Avance Mexico
The Avance Mexico program ran for over 50 years, providing opportunities for 2-month, semester, 1 year, and 2-year cross-cultural ministry service. Along with Avance Thailand and Avance Spain, the program discipled over 3,000 young adults throughout their summer and 2-year service, with many committing to long-term missional service in Mexico, Latin America, and around the world. Through its faithful presence in Mexico, Avance has seen the church built up and workers mobilized both locally and internationally to make a difference in their communities.

Join our community of global workers
We’re looking for life-long learners, hard workers, thoughtful helpers, disciple makers, big thinkers, and everyone in between.

Something I found valuable is that we were given a lot of resources. We were given Spanish classes with amazing teachers. If we wanted to start a Bible study, we were given resources on how to do it and what we could talk about. If we needed help with anything, we knew we could ask our host families or anyone there. And I think that that's a really amazing thing, that they we could receive help no matter what stage of life we were in.

I served with Avance (when it was called Spearhead) from 1984-1999 as a participant, leader, and eventually director for 4 years. I worked with over 1500 young adults who served for a period of 2 months to 4 years with Avance. So, I could literally write a book about the profound influence Avance has had on my life and Christian development, how it shaped my philosophy of missions and my understanding of calling and service, and how I personally witnessed lives, churches and communities across the globe impacted for Christ's kingdom as a direct result of Avance.
