What is Avance Spain?
Avance Spain is a cross-cultural missions apprenticeship based in Granada, Spain, partnering with local congregations to equip emerging leaders for relational ministry in churches and communities. Focused primarily on youth and adult outreach, Avance builds connections through sport, recreation, creativity, and other pathways of relational mission. Avance Espana also partners with Kairos University to offer an accredited Seminary M.A. in mission praxis and context.
What Avance Spain Offers
Holistic Formation
Apprentices benefit from a rich formation environment that combines mentoring, weekly training, and hands-on ministry experience. Apprentices receive formation in leadership, mission, spiritual formation, and ministerial accompaniment while serving as part of a broader Spanish crosscultural mission team
Immersive Ministry Experience
Through local ministry involvement, apprentices develop practical skills for relational mission, learn to serve alongside congregations and communities, and grow in their capacity to live and minister contextually in Spain.
Formal Ministry Training
In partnership with Kairos University, Avance Spain offers apprentices the opportunity to earn a Master of Arts in Mission Praxis and Context as throughout their apprenticeship.
Who Leads Avance Spain
Avance Spain is led by a Director Kevin Book-Satterlee and Assistant Director Falecia Sanchez.
Kevin directs Avance Spain having first serve in Avance Mexico with his wife, Leah, 20 years ago. He is passionate about church, community, and youth outreach. He holds a doctorate in mission.
Falecia is the Assistant Director, having come through first as an apprentice and master’s student. She is passionate about youth outreach and multicultural churches.

My experience in Avance España set me on a completely new journey of testing and self-discovery. It gave me new ways to experience God in a global context and to start to develop the grit I believe we all need to live as effective witnesses for Christ in the 21st century. It equipped me with the tools I desperately needed for language acquisition and cultural adaptation, tools which continue to help me to this day.
