Mesa Global is seeking theologians, biblical scholars, missiologists, historians, and Christian educators who believe that rigorous scholarship is essential to the mission of God. If you see theological education not merely as the transmission of knowledge, but as the formation of faithful disciples and leaders for the Church, you may be called to serve as a Mesa Scholar.

What is a Mesa Scholar?

A Mesa Scholar is a shaper of disciples of Jesus who values the life of the mind as an essential part of the formation he or she offers. Mesa Scholars bring thoughtful, rigorous scholarship into the work of theological education, discipleship, and mission.

Mesa Scholars hold an earned doctorate or a strong master's degree in fields such as theology, biblical studies, missiology, education, history, or adjacent disciplines. They serve as faculty members within one or more of our Partnered Theological Seminaries, which are under-resourced seminaries, universities, Bible institutes, and other formation movements, typically though not exclusively located in the Global South.

The commitment of a Mesa Scholar may range from five years to a lifetime of service. As global workers with Mesa Global, Mesa Scholars raise their own financial support with guidance and encouragement from colleagues who are experienced in this area.

Mesa Scholars are part of a globally dispersed cohort of missional scholars who commit to life together as an essential dimension of their vocation. This shared life includes mentoring, regularly sharing research and missional innovation, and gathering in various ways to encourage, learn from, and support one another in our common calling.

Together, Mesa Scholars seek to bring the gifts of scholarship, theological education, and missional imagination to places where these resources can strengthen the Church and contribute to the formation of faithful disciples of Jesus.
