In August 2026 a section of the Himalayas collapsed, converted a river into a wall of debris destroying communities, causing a national-scale humanitarian and infrastructure disaster. Many churches, pastors and believers are gone, along with roads, bridges and hydropower dams.
1300 were killed, including some relatives of our national partners in Nepal: Deepak Bardewa (near Kathmandu) and Santosh Lamsal (in Pokhara). They mentor over 80 church leaders but now also take jeep loads of basic necessities (food, cooking supplies, clothes for children and elderly, petrol and diesel fuel...) on regular, risky drives up landsliding mountainsides to aid and minister to the survivors. Asking what they need the most determines what is hauled up the next trip.
We also fund rebuilding costs for Santosh's Pokhara church which was in a flood zone. The foundation, walls & roof are done but $4000+ is needed for toilets, windows, doors and electrical lines. They hope to resume gathering in October.
- Safety, wisdom and provision for everyone driving up dangerous roads to deliver essential aid to traumatized communities in the flood zones.
- Care, comfort and safety for the orphans, widows and widowers who lost everything and need counseling, healing and restoration best provided by Christ's compassionate Church as well as seasoned relief ministries.
- Sustained attention and resources for relocating and rebuilding communities over the long haul.
