From Unseen to Uplifted: The Growing Movement in Women Leaders in Nepal

How one gathering prompted a movement of support and storytelling among Nepali women in ministry.

Across Nepal, many women have faithfully served for years without recognition or support. Facing gender and caste barriers, social expectations, and limited ministry opportunities, their work has often gone unseen.

In March 2025, Mesa Hub Leader Jessy Jaison began an initiative to help change that. Thirty-two Nepali women from diverse church backgrounds and theological qualifications gathered—despite full schedules—for a time of fellowship. It was there that something powerful began to take shape:

They didn’t just learn.
They began to tell their stories.

Through sessions focused on teaching and spiritual renewal, along with time set aside to share openly, the women spoke honestly about their challenges, life experiences, and struggles in ministry. As common themes emerged, so did a growing sense of unity. What once felt isolating became something they could carry together. In one another, they found encouragement and renewed confidence in their calling.

Out of this time, the Story Writing Project was born. Under Jessy’s guidance, the women began gathering the stories of others—women whose lives and ministries had deeply impacted their own, yet whose faithful service had often gone unseen and unheard. The project became a way to honor these women and preserve their testimonies for the encouragement of the Church in Nepal and across South Asia.

Since the gathering, the 32 women have remained connected, continuing to support one another through prayer, encouragement, and collaboration in ministry. The impact has been both personal and practical—greater confidence to lead, new initiatives taking shape, and a growing network of women walking alongside one another.

Together, they’ve also collected eleven powerful testimonies for the Story Writing Project—representing eleven other women who are now being recognized and uplifted for their continued service to God’s Kingdom in South Asia.

What began as one gathering in Nepal has become a powerful movement of voices. Women who were once unseen are now strengthening the Church through the stories God is writing in their lives—and this is only the beginning.
